बुधवार को टोरंटो स्टॉक एक्सचेंज के कम्प्यूटरों ने काम करने से इंकार कर दिया। सभी गतिविधियाँ रोक दी गयीं।

Technical woes on Wednesday halted trading at the Toronto Stock Exchange, North America's third largest stock market, and no timeline has been announced for its reopening.
All trading was suspended "due to technical issues with data feeds," said a statement on the exchange's website.

"Because the data feeds provide information to investors to guide their trading decisions, trading was halted to ensure market integrity," it said.

न्यूयॉर्क के नये बज़ट से झटके लगे

Movie tickets, taxi rides, soda, beer, wine, cigars and massages would be taxed under Paterson's proposal. It also extends sales taxes to cable and satellite TV services and removes the tax exemption for clothes costing less than $110.

Paterson's 2009-10 budget proposal represents only a 1% increase in total spending from this year's budget - the smallest increase in a dozen years. It also calls for a 3.3%, or $698 million, reduction in school aid. $3.5 billion in health care savings, including reductions in payments to hospitals and nursing homes. Video slot machines at Belmont Park, more multistate lottery games and expanded hours for the state's Quick Draw lottery game. Layoffs for 521 state workers and the elimination of seven state agencies.

It could cost the city more than $1 billion, including a $600 million reduction in school aid.

CITIBank के कम्प्यूटरों ने भी जवाब दे दिया

पहले से ही बुरी हालत में चल रहे सिटीबैंक के कम्प्यूटरों ने भी अब काम करना बंद कर दिया है। ग्राहक परेशान हो रहे हैं। सिटीबैंक वाले भी नहीं जानते कि हुआ क्या है, बस यही कहते कि बाद में आना!

Customers of New York City-based Citibank have lost access to much of their account information because of a computer outage.

Many of the troubled bank's clients haven't been able to retrieve account details online or by telephone since Tuesday afternoon. Others can access only parts of their account profiles.

Citibank telephone representatives say they don't know what caused the outage but technicians are working to fix it. They've been telling customers to call back after Wednesday morning.

पानी वाला शहर, 99 प्रतिशत बाढ़ में डूबा !

इटली के वेनिस में तेज हवाओं के साथ हुई भारी वर्षा के बाद समुद्र का जलस्तर 22 वर्षों में सबसे उच्च स्तर पर पहुँचने से शहर लगभग पूरी तरह से जलमग्न हो गया है। समुद्र का जलस्तर बढ़ने से शहर में चलने वाली नावें और पानी की टैक्सी सेवाएँ फिलहाल स्थगित कर दी गई हैं। शहर के मेयर ने लोगों से अपने घरों में ही रहने की अपील की है।

इसके कारण वेनिस के मशहूर पर्यटन स्थल जैसे सेंट मार्क्स स्क्वायर पानी से भर गया, जिससे स्थानीय निवासियों और पर्यटकों को काफी परेशानी का सामना करना पड़ा। इसके साथ ही खुले स्थानों पर बने रेस्तराँओं में मेहमानों के बैठने के लिए लगाई गई कुर्सियाँ पानी में डूब गई हैं तथा कुछ अच्छे स्टोर्स भी पानी में डूब गए हैं। प्रशासनिक अधिकारियों का कहना है कि समुद्र का जलस्तर 1.56 मीटर पर पहुँच गया है जो कि 1986 के बाद से उच्चतम है। इसके कारण शहर का 99 प्रतिशत क्षेत्र पानी में डूब गया है।

वेनिस के मेयर मैसिमो कैसियारी ने कहा कि शहर में आई बाढ़ समुद्र का जलस्तर बढ़ने के कारण आई है जो कि बहुत कम ही देखने को मिलती है। शहर में रहने वालों से अनुरोध है कि वे बहुत आवश्यक होने पर ही अपने घर से निकलें। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रशासन इस स्थिति को आपदा घोषित नहीं करेगा, क्योंकि इस बाढ़ में अभी तक किसी के मारे जाने अथवा किसी इमारत के धराशायी होने की सूचना नहीं है।

आप क्या समझते हैं कि भारत में टाटा जैसे प्रतिष्ठान अपने प्लांट कुछ दिन के लिए बंद कर दें तो यह माथे पर बल डालने के लिए काफी है?

German carmakers made another move to cut output levels towards the end of the year to offset slumping demand as the global economic crisis prompts consumers and companies to closely monitor their finances.

Sports car maker Porsche halted production at its headquarters in the southern German town of Zuffenhausen, for one day on Nov. 21, and planned to stop assembly for another seven days until end-January.

The company said on Tuesday it no longer saw its financial year unit sales to end-July reaching the previous same period's level of 98,652 vehicles.
