आपने भारत में तो बहुत सुना-पढ़ा होगा सरकारी वाहनों, विमानों का निजी उपयोग किए जाने वाले हंगामों को। वहाँ ब्रिटेन के राजकुमार विलियम को चचेरे भाई की पार्टी में शामिल होने के लिए शाही वायुसेना के चिनूक हेलीकोप्टर का प्रयोग किए जाने के कारण रक्षा मंत्रालय को हुए आर्थिक नुकसान और छवि खराब होने पर आलोचना झेलनी पड़ी है। राजशाही विरोधी समूह 'रिपब्लिक' द्वारा सूचना की स्वंतत्रता के अधिकार के तहत मांगी गई जानकारी के बाद, वायुसेना के ओडीबैम स्थित वायुसेना ठिकाने पर हेलीकाप्टर प्रशिक्षण के दौरान विलियम द्वारा की गई व्यक्तिगत उड़ानों की विस्तृत जानकारी सामने आई है।

विलियम ने 11 अप्रैल को लंदन से अपने भाई हैरी को लेकर चचेरे भाई पीटर फिलिप्स की पार्टी में जाने के लिए वायुसेना के हेलीकाप्टर का उपयोग किया था। यह भी पता चला है कि प्रिंस ने अपनी महिला मित्र केट मिडलटन के अभिभावकों के स्वामित्व वाली जमीन पर भी हेलीकाप्टर उतारा था। उन्होंने एक वैवाहिक समारोह में शामिल होने के लिए भी हेलीकाप्टर का उपयोग किया। सेना की आंतरिक ई-मेल से पता चलता है कि स्टेशन कमांडर को राजकुमार की इन उड़ानों के वास्तविक उद्देश्य का पता नहीं था।
